I was told by a friend to visit the caves in Dong Hoi, and I almost decided to pass on them, I am so glad I didn't! Thiên Đường Cave is the longest dry cave IN THE WORLD. It was stumbled upon (literally, a Vietnamese farmer fell into the cave by accident) in 2012. The cave is a total of 31 kilometers long, 100 meters high, 150 meters in width and includes an underground river. It is truly spectacular! The tour descents down a long staircase, something out of Indiana Jones, and you follow a small path with makeshift lighting down 100 meters to witness some of the most incredible living mineral formations I have seen in the world. Photographs cannot do justice to how unbelievably surreal this experience was. A must do for any Vietnam trip!
