Volibus lies just 5km outside the holy city of Moulay Idriss in Morocco. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed for being "an exceptionally well preserved example of a large Roman colonial town on the fringes of the Empire".

Volibus is a magical place. I arrived with a small tour group around 8AM and we had the entire site to ourselves, it was incredible. Exploring ancient Roman ruins up close, without having to wait in line or fight off hundreds of tourists, was in itself a magical experience. Seeing how beautifully and highly evolved Romans lived over 2,000 years ago, I can't help but wonder how we as humans think we've evolved at all since then.

A beautifully preserved Corinthian column.

Intricate mosaics floors are found in all public building and prominent homes.

Stunning mountainous backdrop.

Every part the city was laid out to take advantage of the natural water sources that came from the nearby springs. Even the public latrine was beautifully designed to utilize gravity and natural water sources.
